Week #54 - Wop Bop a Loo Bop a Wop Bam Boom!

Hey Family!

This week went by scary fast.

We got to teach seminary Thursday night. There were four kids in the class and it was sweet! We went over 1 Samuel 1-2 all about Hannah's adversities and how she overcame them and all that good stuff.  Shout out to Brother McNeil, Cody’s seminary teacher extraordinaire…

Friday we went to zone conference in Mo Bay. That was fun - I always like going to Mo Bay. They have a dang good frozen yogurt place called Tutti Frutti and it's all futuristic and weird and reminds me of downtown Portland a little bit.

President and Sister Brown came to church and spoke in Sacrament meeting. Craig and CJ were there and Craig loved that talk. Plus President Brown came and talked with Craig after which was awesome! Oh by the way, Craig and CJ should be getting baptized this Sunday coming. His wife is being taught by missionaries in Brooklyn too so it's all great.

Elder Riding had a fever and chills and aches and stuff so after Sacrament meeting I went back to the house with him and rested up. Sitting inside was boring and Elder Riding was a bit flustered with his sickness. He kept turning the fan on him and then within like 10 seconds he would turn it away, and then back on and then away. But the fever finally broke later in the day so hopefully he gets better. He is doing a bit better today so that's good.

This week will be crazy. We have been told not to go out on Thursday due to it being Election Day so I will update you on how that all goes!

I appreciate all the prayers that come my way. Just know that they are answered!

Love,

Elder Graham

Week #53 - Just Another Day in Paradise

Hey Family!

Photo cred to Elder Davis' mom who posted this gem on our
Jamaica Kingston Mission FB Group of Cody enjoying
jerk chicken with Brother Henry in Negril.
This week was pretty interesting. I went on a couple trade-offs to some different areas.  I spent the day on Tuesday with Elder Davis in Negril. He is from Vegas but originally from Driggs, Idaho. Funny kid!

Negril freaks me out. SOOOOOOO many white tourists. I've never been so uncomfortable in my life. That might sound weird and a little racist… sue me.

On Thursday Elder Sandmaier and I took a trip to Montego Bay and spent the day there with the zone leaders, Elder Lambert and Hall. Thursday was one of those memorable "it-rained-so-much-and-we-were-so-wet-that-it-no-longer-mattered" days. We spent the whole lunch hour sitting in front of fans. Since it was a trade-off, I didn't have any extra clothes I could change into so I had to roll around Mo Bay damp all day. Like I said, memorable. The day was really good though. We talked to a ton of people and taught a few of their investigators.

We are starting to find a few cool new people, but they all work full time so it is pretty hard to see them all consistently. Pray for us!

Anyway, that's about it for this week. Today should just be a relaxer/cleaning day.

Love,

Elder Graham

Week #52 - One Down, One to Go!

Hey Family:

So one year down huh? That is weird.  Very sentimental, our boy… but he’s been gone a year on February 11 – grateful to say we can’t believe how fast the time has flown!

This week was good. Got to go on a trade off with Elder McGregor. He is awesome. The man understands missionary work so that's nice. Since he just came from being the branch president in Yallahs, we had a lot to talk about. He told me that like five people I started teaching when I was there got baptized after I left which was way cool to hear!

Church was great. Craig and CJ came again so that's awesome. We had to push their date back to the 28th but that one seems more reasonable so they can learn everything in time.

Westmoreland election posters… JLP vs PNP
Our elections would be so much more entertaining
with politician peace signs along the roads and the
threat of death if you don’t keep the people happy, eh?
Elections are coming up here so we got some pictures of the posters... great stuff haha I about died. Politics are as crazy as gangs though. It is a dangerous position to try to be in haha.

As far as P-Day fun goes, we're playing games at the church. I know right? Party, party, party. The sisters in Cody’s district told him it was his job to plan a fun activity for all of them – way to go sisters, keep Elder Graham on his toes! I am perfectly ok with just chilling out for the day and getting to just cool down before we go full speed again for another six days! And the calling doesn't matter, that's just more work for me. Yay... Kidding - it's fun, but I wasn't really expecting it again haha. I gave him a hard time for not telling me he was called as District Leader again…

That's it for this week…

Love and miss ya’ll!

Elder Graham

Not sure if I ever sent a picture of the Sav house.
It looks big but we only have a part of the bottom story.
